In the last 3 years, Javier Perez Acebo, emergency nurse from Parc Taulí together with the Foundation Parc Tauli have developed a Smart Safety Harness for agitated patients in emergency room. The product has been patented and prototyped. The objective of the initiative is to give tools to ensure safety and ethics in contained patients.
CIMTI is the acronym of Center for the Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technologies in Catalonia. CIMTI does select the most attractive innovative initiatives from public catalan hospitals and mentorize them during half of a year.
The Smart Safety Harness from Parc Taulí has been selected by CIMTI among projects from other institutions like Vall Hebron, Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa, Centre de Recerca Matemàtica, Universitat de Barcelona and Institut d’Investigació en Intel·ligència Artificial.
During this period Parc Tauli and Eurecat will receive legal, patent and business assessment to bring the Smart Safety Harness to the market.
Parc Taulí Hospital has been selected to enroll the CIMTI program with three different projects: Bettercare, Taby Diagnostics, Smart Safety Harness which demonstrates the quality of the innovation carried out at the hospital.
Hopefully we will hear a lot of this project during the following year.
